The Multicultural Healthcare Alliance, a collaborative effort of Olmsted County Public Health Services, Mayo Clinic Rochester and Olmsted Medical Center, formed in September 1997 to address the healthcare needs of the rapidly growing minority populations in Olmsted County Minnesota.

PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE
Concerns about barriers to culturally competent healthcare for ethnic and immigrant populations in Olmsted County Minnesota led to the establishment of a Multicultural Healthcare Alliance in 1997 and the Alliance’s PathFinder program in 2000. The Alliance and PathFinder program has been a successful model for improving access to culturally competent healthcare services. While the PathFinder program was developed to meet the unique needs of Olmsted County, the project design and especially the lessons learned, have general applicability to healthcare settings where services are being provided to people of different cultures.
