School Public Health Nursing

 School public health nursing services are provided in all Olmsted County schools. Our nurses assist in health assessments, counseling, and referral services for school children in all schools, and provide age-specific health topic classes to all grade levels. Our teams have been involved in several school-wide promotional planning and implementation efforts, including increasing calcium consumption, bullying prevention programs, and Walk to School Day. We implement school-based vision, hearing and scoliosis screening programs in selected schools with rescreen, referral, and follow-up components as indicated according to screening programs standards.
