Children With Special Health Needs

Children with Special Health Care Needs: Public Health Nurses provide parenting and child health information to families with a child birth to age 5 who has a known or suspected handicapping condition or chronic illness.  We work closely with the Children with Developmental Disabilities programs through Community Services to coordinate services and provide the best care and resources to families.

Child Personal Care Assessments (PCA):  The PCA program provides assistance to families with disabled children and children with special healthcare needs requiring assistance and currently enrolled in Medical Assistance.  The program provides help and assistance with activities of daily living.  Examples include personal hygiene and grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, and functional transfers.  Public Health Nurses will assess the child to determine eligibility, appropriate level of care, and provide information on care options.
