Legislative Agenda

The 2012 Olmsted County Legislative Agenda was approved by the County Board at the December 1, 2011 Board meeting. On December 13, 2011, the County Board and key County staff met with our six area State Legislators and staff members from Congressman Walz's and Senator Franken's offices to discuss this agenda and the upcoming session.

The 2012 Legislative session begins at the Capitol in St. Paul on January 24, 2012, and runs until at least early April. This is the "short" session of the biennum which usually concentrates on bonding, constitutional amendments, and necessary fixes to the state's 2 year budget set in last summer's special session. We are fortunate that the state budget finds itself with a slight surplus, rather than the usual large deficits facing state government.
