| The following "personal survey" questions may give you an idea if you could be a good foster parent. If you answer most of the questions with a definite "yes" and if you would be interested in opening your home and your heart to a child please contact us. There are children waiting for your love and skilled care. |
|
1. Do you (and your significant other if applicable) have a happy stable life? |
2. Do you like children and enjoy having them around 24 hours a day? |
3. Are you mature enough to realize that some children may have difficulty in adjusting to your way of life? Do you have the ability to accept a child where he/she is mentally, physically, socially, emotionally, or spiritually? |
4. Do you have enough space in your home for the child to have a bed of his own (not in a common living space)? |
5. If you have children will they be able to accept a foster brother or sister as a member of the family? |
6. Are the members in your family in good health? |
7. Does your income meet the basic needs of your own family? You are reimbursed for having another child in your home, however foster care can not be used as a primary source of income. |
8. Could you accept the fact that a foster child eventually may return to his own home or be placed elsewhere? |
9. Would you welcome advice and assistance of a department social worker in a team effort to meet the needs of each child? |
If you answered yes to most of the questions and are interested in becoming a foster parent please call your local County Social Service Department. |
