In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Olmsted County Family Support & Assistance determines eligibility for public assistance programs. Applications for food support, cash assistance programs, child care assistance, and public health care programs are available at the 2117 Campus Drive SE office location, by calling, or by completing on-line application at ApplyMN.

ApplyMN is Minnesota's secure, online system you can use to apply for cash assistance, SNAP (food support), emergency help, and child care assistance programs.  

To get started, visit Minnesota Human Services Online to use an online pre-screening tool to find out if you might qualify for benefits and to register for a user ID and password.

If you already have a user ID and password, you can log-on to ApplyMN directly. 

 

The Public Health Care Programs in Minnesota are Medical Assistance (MA), MinnesotaCare (MCRE), and General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC). The MNsure plan rates for 2015 are posted at http://www.mnsure.org/individual-family/cost/

Medical Assistance is a joint federal-state health care program for low-income parents, children, elderly, or disabled people including subsidized prescription drug benefits and health care coordinated benefits covered under Medicare.  

MinnesotaCare
is a publicly subsidized health insurance program for lower-income state residents who do not have access to affordable health care coverage.  


General Assistance Medical Care
is a state-funded program providing health care to Minnesotans, primarily childless adults, who do not qualify for MA or other state or federal health care programs.

MNsure is a central marketplace where Minnesota individuals, families and small employers can get quality, affordable health insurance and access tax credits or assistance to help pay for coverage. MNsure has an easy-to-use website where you can search and compare plans, a hotline you can call to talk with someone about your options, and places where you can sign up in your community.

Getting Insurance through MNsure

Our aim is to make getting health insurance through MNsure a simple, straightforward process. Here is how we will help guide you:

  • Step One: Access the website. Choose either the individual or small employer category.
  • Step Two: About You. Once you’ve told us some essential details, you’ll see a range of plans that match what you are seeking. All the plans will meet standard requirements for value and quality.
  • Step Three : Select a Plan. Compare your options by price, provider or services offered.
  • Step Four: Reduce Your Cost. You may qualify for tax credits or health programs.
  • Step Five: Complete Your Enrollment. Individuals and families only need to fill out one application for any type of health coverage offered through the MNsure marketplace.
