Holiday Light Recycling Program
This year, there is a way to recycle your old, broken holiday light strands rather than tossing them in the trash. Collection bins are located at the following locations now through January 15:
- Olmsted County Campus 2122 Building Lobby - 2122 Campus Drive SE in Rochester
- Ace Hardware Stores in Rochester and Byron
- Rochester Community and Technical College has 3 locations including the Heinz Center Lobby, Sports Center Complex, and the atrium of the University Center Rochester building
- Salvation Army in Rochester
Third Unit Expansion
An expansion project is currently underway at the Olmsted Waste-to-Energy Facility (OWEF). This construction project will increase the capacity of the OWEF from 200 to 400 tons per day and dramatically reduce the amount of unprocessed waste from Olmsted and Dodge Counties that is landfilled. The project is expected to be complete in early 2010.
