55th Street Extension Study

This project will create an east-west corridor to increase accessibility to the area east of the Zumbro River and north of 37th St / East Circle Drive by creating a river crossing between those existing at 37th St North and 75th St. The extension of 55th Street has long been recognized as a necessary improvement and has been an element of regional long range transportation plans as far back as 1968. The most recent Long Range Transportation Plan (adopted in 2010) indicates a future four-lane expressway connecting 55th Street NW to US Highway 63. Lack of available funding has been a key factor limiting progress on this project.
