What does Recording & Abstracting do?

Most functions of Recording & Abstracting, formerly the Recorder's Office, have not changed. These include former Auditor's duties, i.e. property transfers, collections of mortgage registry tax and state deed tax as well as the recording of legal documents.
We offer full abstracting services, creation of new abstracts, updating of existing abstracts as well as Conditions of Title (O & E reports) and registered property abstracts for Torrens property.
We accept Homestead applications as well as process across the counter real estate tax collection transactions.
There are four public viewing computers located within this office. Applications available for public use on these PC's are the tract index system with images of documents back to November 13, 1993, real estate tax system, land management system (property attributes, division/annexation info, sales info) and images of Certificates of Real Estate Values from November 1, 2002 forward.
We have a web-based tract index system available to outside users for a fee. Please refer to our current fee schedule.
We are continuing to explore additional web-based applications to raise the level of customer services.
