Joint Canine Unit

 

 


 

 The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office graduated its first dog from the St. Paul Police K9 Academy in June of 1994. 

In 2000 the K9 unit became a joint unit with the Rochester Police Department. 

 The unit currently consists of a total of eleven teams:

Chief Deputy Mark Darnell -K9 Liberty

Sgt. Brian Howard – K9 Matrix
Deputy Chris Wallace – K9 Kilo
Deputy Rich Carmack – K9 Cash
Deputy Kelly Lee – K9 Vito
Deputy Mark Baron – K9 Rocket
Chief Deputy Mark Darnell – K9 Liberty
Sgt. Mike Drees – K9 Chase
Officer Craig Sammon – K9 Keegan
Officer James Bradley – K9 Jake
Officer James Logan – K9 Britt

    The K9 unit is under the supervision of Chief Deputy Darnell.
