Accessibility/Help Page

There are various types of physical disabilities that impact user interaction on the web. Vision loss, hearing loss, limited manual dexterity, and cognitive disabilities are examples, with each having different means by which to access electronic information effectively. Our goal is to provide a good web experience for all visitors.

Accessibility Features

There are various accessibility features built into our website including the following:

Access Keys

Our website features “access keys” that can be accessed by holding down a key combination and then pressing one of the below keys. These are shortcuts which allow you to get to certain parts of a website quickly.

  • Access Key: 1
    Go to the home page of this site
  • Access Key: 2
    Jump to the start of the content for the current page (preceding any on-page navigation)
  • Access Key: S
    Jump to the search form on the current page
  • Access Key: 4
    Go to the contact information page of this site
  • Access Key: 5
    Jump to the top of the current page
  • Access Key: 6
    Go to the accessibility information page of this site

Key combinations

Make sure to use the number on your main keyboard (above the letters), rather than on the numeric keypad.

Internet Explorer 7+
Hold down Alt and a number listed above, then release those keys and press Enter.
Firefox 2 and later
Hold down Alt and shift, then press a number listed above.
Firefox 1.5 and earlier, Safari
Hold down Alt, then press a number listed above.
Hold down Shift and Escape. A menu will appear showing access key options. Press a number listed above to select your choice

Alternative Text for Photographs/Images

Uses Alternative Text "Alt" and/or "Title" attributes. Alt/Title attributes provide a written description of the image, which is accessible to screen readers, and it is visible when the mouse is placed over the image. This is also useful for people who have images turned off on their browser, in which case a description will display where the image used to be.
