Community Fix-Up Fund

The OCHRA along with the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) can provide low interest loans to address specific needs in Olmsted County. The OCHRA has listed the following as community Fix-Up Fund eligible uses:

1. Sewer and Water System Improvements such as new wells, sealing of existing wells, repair of existing wells, septic system installation, septic system repair, sealing of septic systems, or the connection of a property that has a private well and septic system to a municipal system when that system becomes available. When connecting to a municipal system, all costs of that connection are eligible.

2. Emergency repairs such as the repair of leaking roofs, the replacement of failing furnaces and water heaters, failing foundation repairs, or any other structural repair that constitutes and emergency.

3. Accessibility needs of the home such as widening doorways, installing handicapped-accessible bathrooms and any other needs to make a home handicap accessible.

The loans are available to households whose income is $87,000 per year or less. Homeowners must occupy the property to be improved in an MHFA-approved community, be creditworthy and have the ability to repay the loan. Loans are provided at below-market interest rates and may be available to borrowers with credit problems if they attend approved credit counseling classes.

Funds are available throughout the year.
