Olmsted County Public Health, in collaboration with Olmsted Medical Center and Mayo Clinic, opened a community COVID-19 specimen collection site on March 23, 2020 after a successful two-day pilot. Beginning Thursday, March 26, 2020, the new hours for the site are as follows: Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours were recently changed to better align with Rochester's two other collection sites, reduce confusion, and improve customer service.

Individuals are required to call their primary care provider to have a phone screening first to determine if COVID-19 testing is appropriate -- including those individuals without insurance or a dedicated health care provider. Mayo Clinic patients are encouraged to call their primary care provider and Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) patients (and those not affiliated with either organization) should call the OMC nurse triage line at 507-293-9525.

If approved, patients will be directed to a specimen collection site and will receive further instructions at the site. Mayo Clinic and Olmsted Medical Center staff will collect the specimen and the specimen testing will be done through Mayo Clinic Medical Labs.
