Oldest Olmsted County Veteran celebrates his 105th birthday

After an extensive search through Olmsted County Veterans Service office records, Kenneth Dale Hoffmeyer, a resident of Olmsted County, is determined to be the oldest living veteran in the county.

Kenneth Dale Hoffmeyer served as a commissioned administrative officer in the Army Air Forces with overseas service in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations during the Second World War. He was later recalled to active federal service as a commissioned field artillery officer serving as a battery commander, with overseas service on the Korean peninsula during the Korean War.

Friends, family and community joined Mr. Hoffmeyer at his residence today to wish him a happy 105th birthday. The Rochester Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post played happy birthday as all sang along.

Members of the media, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Rochester American Legion, and Plainview American Legion were present as well as Joe Steck from Representative Hagedorn's office to present Mr. Hoffmeyer with a certificate in recognition of his service.

The Olmsted County Board of Commissioners and county Veteran Services ask the community to join in celebrating Kenneth Dale Hoffmeyer's service to his country and his 105th birthday!
