Olmsted County Welcomes a New Assistant Planning Director for the Rochester-Olmsted Consolidated Planning Department

Olmsted County is pleased to announce the selection of Ben Griffith as the Assistant Director for the Rochester-Olmsted Consolidated Planning Department. Ben graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida with a bachelor's degree in Urban & Public Affairs, with a minor in Business. He has also earned a master's degree from Mississippi State University in Public Policy & Administration. 

Ben moved to Rochester from North Carolina and before that, worked in Illinois, Mississippi and Florida. He has been a director, assistant director and planning manager over a span of 20 years and thoroughly enjoys being a planner. He excels in site plan and development review and likes to work on a project from concept to CO (Certificate of Occupancy). Planners play a major role in guiding the orderly growth and development of a community and make long-lasting contributions to the overall quality of life. It's a huge responsibility and Ben takes it very seriously.         

Ben is a Navy veteran and served with the Marines at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  He lives in Rochester with his wife and two cats and they have a grown son who lives in Illinois.  When not at work, Ben likes to cook, travel, and enjoys most sports.
