Olmsted County is able to process death certificate requests when the death occurred in any county in Minnesota during or after 1997.
If a death took place before 1997, you will need to contact the county where the death occurred or order by mail from the Minnesota Department of Health.
For non-certified death records that took place in Olmsted County prior to 1997, contact: The History Center of Olmsted County

Completing the appropriate application in advance will save time at the Government Center.
Acceptable forms of payment are cash, credit card, personal check, money order or cashier's check. Make checks payable to: Olmsted County Vital Records If you are mailing your request please be sure to have it notarized, include a self-addressed return envelope and mail it to:
