2010 Olmsted County Skywarn Spotter Training The National Weather Service (NWS) has scheduled severe weather spotter training for Wednesday, March 24 at 6:30 pm at the International Event Center in Rochester, MN. The NWS relies on actual storm reports from spotters. Anyone involved in the safety of others is encouraged to attend because severe weather safety is also included. Learn more. (3/9/10) |

Visit Olmsted County's parks while there's still some winter left to enjoy! The snow is still white and pristine at Olmsted County's all-seasons parks. Chester Woods Park, located 7 miles east of Rochester Minnesota on US Highway 14, offers winter activities like cross country skiing and ice fishing. Watch this three and one half minute video of the winter wonderland that is Chester Woods Park, or visit their website. Oxbow Park, located three and a half miles north of Byron, Minnesota, is another popular winter destination offering family winter activities like snowshoeing and cross country skiing on groomed trails. Zollman Zoo and Nature Center features exhibits of native Minnesota animals that show off their fine winter coats for visitors.
